Frequently asked questions
How does the word unscrambler work?
Enter your scrambled letters into the box and click Unscramble. The tool checks every combination of your letters against a dictionary of valid English words and returns all matches, grouped by word length and sorted by Scrabble score.
Can I use it for Scrabble and Words With Friends?
Yes — use the Game dropdown to switch between Scrabble and Words With Friends scoring. Both games use slightly different point values for some letters, so scores may differ. The word checker also confirms whether a word is valid in each game.
What does the ? wildcard do?
A ? represents a blank tile — it can stand in for any letter. If you have a blank tile in your rack, add ? to your letters and the unscrambler will include words that need one additional letter your tiles don't provide.
How is the Scrabble score calculated?
Each letter has a face value: common letters like E, A, I, O, N, R, S, T, L, U are worth 1 point. Rarer letters score higher — Q and Z are worth 10 points each. The word score shown is the sum of all letter values, before any board multipliers.
What is the difference between unscrambling and anagrams?
Unscrambling finds words made from SOME of your letters (any subset). Anagrams use ALL of your letters to make a single word of exactly the same length. Use the dedicated Anagram Solver tool for true anagrams.
